The SportsReach Football League returned after a two-week break, sandwiching an excellent All Day Tournament which took place on October 8th.
The winners that day, Great Eccleston, continue to challenge at the top of the table following a fine 6-2 victory over Longton. Eccy led 2-0 after 25 minutes through two excellent finishes from Jack Sharples, before Longton defender Andras Leveleki was sent off for what was deemed a professional foul. That left an already injury-hit Longton up against it, and Daniel Ball scored from the resulting free-kick to make it three before adding a fourth before half-time. Longton showed spirit in the second half and scored twice through Gregg Metcalf and Tom Cobham, but the home side added to their tally through close-range finishes from Toby Parker and Dennis Pulford.
Elsewhere, champions Lancaster are right up there once again after a 4-2 away victory at Wray. The match was delicately poised at 2-2 up until the final 15 minutes before Lancaster grabbed victory with late goals from Michael White – returning from injury – and Jonny Sudell once again.
Over at Quernmore, it was an excellent away day for Fulwood who struck four first half goals in just nine minutes. Quernmore responded in the second half with a goal of their own but the damage was done, and Fulwood took the three points back to Preston with the final score 4-1.
