SportsReach Netball League

Wednesday 27th April and it was finals night in the Netball league!

First up was the Plate Final – Quernmore Jets v Garstang Sapphires.  Jets took off with a bang and took Sapphires a little by surprise!  The first two quarters were neck and neck and it looked like either team was in with a shout.  Sapphires eventually managed to pull away in the third quarter, mainly due to Megan Beesleys deadly shooting and they held on to win 13-8.  Well played both teams.

Grace Holland from Chipping MereCats shared the message with players and spectators in between the finals.  What do we consider to be healthy for our bodies?  We are told purple foods are good for us.  We think seriously about what we put into our bodies diet wise but what is really inside us?  God looks at our hearts.  He formed us and we are fearfully and wonderfully made.  Psalm 139:14  He will deal with the ‘bad stuff’ – envy, greed, bitterness, guilt in our lives if we come to Him.

Following the Plate came the League Cup Final contested between Chipping teams, TopCats and WildCats.  WildCats had won the League and had gone through the season unbeaten and were favourites to complete the double.  However, TopCats had other ideas.  WildCats raced into a 4-0 lead within the first few minutes and led at the end of the first quarter by two goals. Second quarter and TopCats levelled the scores and then pulled away to lead in the third, a lead they increased in the final quarter to win a thoroughly entertaining and hard-fought match played in a great spirit between the two teams.  TopCats triumphing 35 – 26.

So the end of a fantastic season!  Well done to all who played, managed, officiated, supported or shared.  Thanks to Ripley, for the facilities and to the site manager who looked after us so well.  Looking forward to the next season starting up again in September but next on the calendar is the tournament – Saturday 25th June.  🙂
