SPORTSREACH NETBALL LEAGUE 2016/17

19 Dec

SportsReach Netball League

Last matches before Christmas with another pleasant evening for playing netball. 🙂

At the halfway point in the evening as teams shared hot chocolate and mince pies, Sue shared a challenging message with all the teams.

“What are you celebrating this Christmas?”  We enjoy all the ‘trimmings’ of Christmas time – presents, decorations, parties, turkey, mince pies, chocolates etc etc etc but what do we really celebrate?  On a recent shopping trip to Bolton there was a live nativity complete with wise men and camels!!  Nearby was a Santa’s grotto and whilst very few if any, paused to see the nativity, there was a big queue outside the grotto waiting to see Father Christmas.

What are we celebrating this Christmas?  What is the real reason for Christmas?  What or who is the reason for the season?  A little boy was asked one Christmas if he had received all he wanted for Christmas.  “No not really” he answered and then he paused before adding, “But it’s not my birthday is it!”  What are you celebrating this Christmas?

Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” Luke 2: 10-14

This Christmas, will you join with us in celebrating the real reason of Christmas?  Jesus being born as a babe in Bethlehem, coming to give us hope, coming to save us, coming to give us life.

On the netball front:

At the turn of the year Chipping TopCats sit in first place in division one with Garstang Diamonds close behind in second with their 100% record still intact and they will be looking to capitalise on their games in hand. With Garstang Sapphires also boasting a 100% record in division two it is unlikely Katie will be swapping the successful position of Garstang manager for the lowly position at M16 0RA!  The Lancaster teams of Royals and Roses are hot on the heels of Sapphires awaiting any slip up.  It’s tight at the top of division three with the top 3 being separated by only 2 points.  Panthers moving into top spot with an important win this week over the early pacesetters Baby belles with Heysham Harriers sitting in between them in second.  It all points towards an exciting end to the season as we resume on the 4th January.

Results 14/12/16:
Panthers 27 – 7  Babybelles;
Lancaster Royals 41 – 10 Bluebelles;
Westhouse Lightning 19 – 47 Chipping WildCats;
