SPORTSREACH MENS 5ASIDE LEAGUE

30 Oct

Week 7 of the 5aside league saw another round of very close fixtures.  In the early games Will Preece inspired Young Guns to a really good win over Chipping.  In the other early game Wray were always in control against a spirited, but depleted Ingleton team.  Wray took a 2 goal lead into half time and after one of Ingletons players sustained an injury (and only having 5 players to begin with) Wray very sportingly took a player off for the second half and played 4 aside for the remainder of the match.  Ingleton improved and Jam scored a great goal to make it 2 -1, but almost immediately Roy Emerson scored for Wray to make it comfortable again. Wray then added another in the closing minutes.  In the late games Capernwray Students played their best game yet and drew an intense game with Real VVV 3 – 3.  Capernwray Students scored after 2 seconds and they threw everything at VVV in the first half and were unfortunate to be only 3 – 2 ahead at half time.  In the second half VVV improved and started to create more chances, hitting the woodwork twice and managing to get a goal back, but couldn’t find a winner.  Capernwray Staff and Galgate were playing for the second time this season and after their first game ended 5 – 5, this was set to be a very close game.  Capernwray staff were in the lead for much of the game and with a minute to go they were 8-7 up, only for Galgate to get two late goals and to creep up to 3rd in the league.

This week our speaker was Luke Gorst, who shared from the parable that Jesus told, of the prodigal son.  Luke encouraged us to turn to God who is waiting for us to respond, just like the son did, even though he had turned his back on his father.

Results:

Ingleton 1 – 4 Wray

Young Guns 6 – 3 Chipping

Galgate 9 – 8 Capernwray Staff

Real VVV 3 – 3 Capernwray Students
