SPORTSREACH 5ASIDE LEAGUE

9 Nov

In week 9 of the 5aside league we had a fantastic and powerful testimony from Tom, who is an Australian currently studying at Capernwray Hall.  He shared openly and honestly about how God had stepped into his life, when he was living for himself.  His was a story of second chances and God’s amazing grace, which is available to all!

In the 8pm games a much changed Ingleton side came up against a quick and skilful Young Guns team.  With 3 new players it was always going to be a big ask for Ingleton, but Young Guns were in ruthless form, running away with their biggest win to date.  In the other early game Chipping were still searching for their first win of the season.  They initially fell behind but slowly got more and more into the game against Carnforth.  Going in at half time the scores were level at 1 – 1, but as the second half went on Chipping pulled away, taking their chances well, to win 5 – 3.

In the late games Crown Lane moved the ball around quickly and tried to draw out a deep lying Capernwray staff team.  Crown Lane took control of the game and were soon a couple of goals up.  Just before half time Steven Havelin scored a spectacular goal for the staff, picking up the ball on the edge of his ‘D’ he nutmegged a player and then skinned another at pace, before hitting a powerful shot from a tight angle into the far bottom corner.  Staff had hope, but soon into the second half Crown Lane scored 3 quick goals and ended up running away with a final 9 – 1 score.  In the other late game Real VVV had their scoring boots on against Capernwray Students, who are one of the form teams.  These teams met a few weeks ago and had a very tight, low scoring draw, but VVV ran out 8 – 4 winners in a much more open game.

Results:

Young Guns 14 – 4 Ingleton

Carnforth 3 – 5 Chipping

Capernwray Students 4 – 8 Real VVV

Crown Lane 9 – 1 Capernwray Staff
