SportsReach Netball League 2017/18
After a complete washout last week with all games cancelled due to floods and storm Caroline (not to be confused with Caroline who plays for Westhouse Thunder! 😉 ) it was good to be back on a dry, clear and frosty evening at Ripley!
Some great messages were again shared as the players gathered in between the games to listen.
“What is God like?” was one question looked at, with the answer being that if we want to see what God is like, we can look at Jesus who is the ‘image of the invisible God’. Colossians 1:15
He shows us that God is a God of love, a God of peace and joy and also a God who laid down His life for us as He died on the cross, that we might be forgiven and receive new life.
In the netball, the play was fast and competitive with everyone glad to be back and enjoying the games.  Stingwrays v Thunder was a game that both teams were looking forward to, with just one goal having separated the teams the last time they met.  Thunder were eager to turn that round and win this time but in another fast and free flowing game, Stingwrays began on the front foot and quickly took a 4 goal lead which left Thunder playing catch up all the way through and although they closed the gap to just two goals in the third quarter, Stingwrays held on to win 30 – 28.  Also in division one, WildCats moved level with Diamonds at the top, separated only by goal difference as they won against Swallows.  Mantawrays overcame a spirited Sapphires to move up to fifth.
Division two and Jets kept their 100% record going with a victory over Panthers.  Rubies moved up to second, two points behind to make it a Quernmore one two at the top as they recorded a win over Harriers.  Lightning overcame Bluebells to move four points clear of Bluebells in fourth place and level on Points with MereCats in third.
In division three Electricwrays did the double over STY:LE 18 – 13 to move level on points with them and to close in on their ‘sister’ team Eaglewrays, also from Capernwray who sit top of the division one point ahead.  Amazons recorded their third win of the season, defeating Sparkles 19 – 7 and could move up to second place if they win their games in hand.
All very close at the top.
