SportsReach Football league results – 2nd December
As we enter the festive season, all four games were able to be played this weekend, after all games were called off last weekend due to the terrible weather! Loko travelled to Wray, hoping to derail Wray’s winning momentum, whilst Great Ecc travelled to Fulwood, aiming to keep up their winning start and keep up with Wray. After having several weeks off, Lancaster faced Moorlands, both hoping to get a win after recent poor results. Meanwhile Quernmore were aiming to win their third game on the bounce, facing an ever improving Preston City Mission team.
First half show blows Loko away
Wray 4 – 1 Loko
George Whitaker 1, 35, Luke Gorst 33, Mark Ellershaw 37 // Glen Hanmer 82
As is becoming a custom for Wray now, they got their early goal, George Whitaker netting in the 1st minute of the game. However, despite the very early goal, Wray did not have it all their own way and found Loko tough opposition, keeping the Wray forward line at bay. However, Luke Gorst netted for Wray in the 33rd minute, sparking a mad few minutes, with Loko going from being 1-0 down to 4-0 down in a matter of minutes. In the 33rd minute, Luke Gorst brought the ball down as a corner was cleared, flicked it up and blasted it into the top corner. Following that, Whitaker netted again for his second in the 35th minute and then Mark Ellershaw netted in the 37th minute to compound Loko’s misery. Loko, however, continued to work hard throughout the game and eventually they got a consolation, Glen Hanmer netting for Loko in the 82nd minute. Another good, strong win for Wray, who keep top spot on the table.
Eccy keep up the pace
Fulwood 2 – 6 Great Ecc
Rick Atkinson snr, Danny Garratt // Richard Booth x2, Jonny Leech, Jack Sharples x2, Si Greenhalgh
Fulwood and Great Ecc played out a lively game on Saturday, with plenty of goals being scored. Fulwood netted twice, with Rick Atkinson senior and Danny Garratt scoring for them, however, their poor run continued as Great Ecc were too strong for them, scoring 6 times in all. Richard Booth started the scoring for Great Ecc, followed by Jonny Leech. Jack Sharples then netted a double to put Great Ecc in control. Captain Si Greenhalgh netted for Great Ecc for their fifth of the game before Richard Booth finished the scoring for Great Ecc. Great Ecc keep up their winning run and keep in touch with Great Ecc. The Wray vs. Great Ecc game on the 6th January is looking all the more exciting as both teams keep winning!
Lancaster hit winning trail again
Lancaster 6 – 3 Moorlands
Michael White 10, 22, Adam Luczynski 64, 87, Damian Melody 65, Tom Luxton 82 // Chris Dent 46, 49, Max Ward 72
Lancaster got a high scoring win against a spirited Moorlands side, who certainly did not let Lancaster have it all their own way. Lancaster found themselves 2-0 up at half time, thanks to two goals from Michael White in the 10th minute and 22nd minute. However, Lancaster, who no doubt would want to keep it tight the first 10 minutes of the second half, found themselves level with Moorlands again, thanks to Chris Dents 3 minute spell, netting in the 46th and 49th minute. Level for a short time, Lancaster were back in front thanks to Adam Luczynski, netting in the 64th minute. And suddenly, Lancaster found their two goal cushion restored, Damian Melody netting in the 65th minute. Moorlands were not, however, going to go down without a fight and netted their third of the game in the 72nd minute, through Max Ward. Lancaster made sure of the result in the last 10 minutes of the game, finishing strongly, netting in the 82nd minute through Tom Luxton and then the 87th minute through Adam Luczynski again. A good result for Lancaster, who keep up the pressure on the top two.
8 up for inform Quernmore
Preston City Mission 1 – 8 Quernmore
77 // Keiron Harwood 20, 57, Tom Kelsall 38, 48, 53, Jordan Yates 59, Ste Longton 81 Joe Yates 90
Quernmore continued their good run of results recently by getting a big win against Preston City mission. And despite the scoreline, the Preston City Mission team can be complimented, much improved from the last encounter and in fact should probably have taken the lead against Quernmore, having an effort cleared of the line and a free header saved by the keeper. Then in the 20th minute, Quernmore found the goal they were looking for, through Keiron Harwood netting after a scramble in the box. Tom Kelsall then added to Quernmore’s lead, netting from about 25 yards. Quernmore, growing stronger as the game went on, netted their third goal shortly after half time, Tom Kelsall scoring again. Quernmore were then awarded a penalty and Tom Kelsall was given the chance to complete his hat trick – and duly did. In the 57th minute, Quernmore netted again, Keiron Harwood grabbing his second of the game before Jordan Yates scoring acrobatically, adding Quernmore’s 6th goal of the game in the 59th minute. Despite the heavy scoreline, Preston City Mission continued to attack – and that was mainly the reason why they had conceded a flurry of quick goals and they found the goal they had been looking for in the 77th minute. Finally, two more goals from the Ste Longton and then Joe Yates added futher to Quernmore’s goal tally, Longton scoring in the 81st minute and then Joe Yates scoring in the 90th minute. Another good result for Quernmore, who have now won 3 on the bounce and are hoping to make it a fourth win next week against Moorlands in the cup.
