SportsReach football league – 1st December

3 Dec

This week there was two games in the league, with Wray travelling to Moorlands, both sides looking to improve on last weekends defeats, whilst Great Ecc made the trip up to Loko, with Great Ecc hoping to continue their great start to the season.

Wray grab big win

Moorlands 0 – 4 Great Ecc

// Fawcett 48, 71, 87, Goodley 82

This was Wray’s biggest win of the season as they moved off the bottom of the league with an excellent performance.
The first half was fairly even with the highlights being a powerful shot from distance from Tom Whitaker at one end, and a stunning save from the returning David Whitfield at the other. Wray had a full squad for the first time this season and were able to make four changes at the break, and they made a big impact on the game. Jake Fawcett, one of the subs, broke the deadlock after only three minutes of the second half as his long-range shot squirmed into the net. It was fit-again Fawcett who got the second after a lovely pass from Stephen Harrison, before strike partner Warren Goodley scored, turning in a good cross from young sub David Smith. Wray saved the best until last, though, as sub Harry Gorst produced a wonderful crossfield ball and Fawcett smashed it home on the volley for his second hat-trick in his two games this season. Next week Wray face Great Ecc in a battle of last seasons top two – will this result be the kick start to their season? Only time will tell.

Seventh heaven for Eccy

Loko 1 – 3 Great Ecc

18 // Sharples 21, Shields 41, OG 50

Great Ecc stretched their lead at the top of the league to four points this weekend after a hard fought win over battling Loko. If Great Ecc can win their two games in hand, they could go 10 points clear at the top. However, teams will not let them have it all their own way and Loko showed that on Saturday. Loko stunned Great Ecc and took the lead in the 18th minute, but weren’t infront for long. Jack Sharples netted his sixth goal of the season in the 21st minute to bring them back on level terms. Great Ecc then took the lead in the 41st minute via Tom Shields finish. Great Ecc made sure of all three points in the 50th minute after an unfortunate own goal from Loko gave Great Ecc a commanding lead in the game, which they saw out to record their seventh straight league win this season. It is hard to see who can stop Great Ecc at the moment, but only time will tell if their great league run will continue!…
