Saturday 28th June saw Garstang Academy taken over by SportsReach netball!
23 teams came along and competed in 3 different sections over the day – 4 Junior teams, and 7 Novice teams in the mornings with 12 teams in the Open competition in the afternoon. Half way through the day everyone gathered for the message and for the presentation of the mornings awards before the afternoon matches began. It was great to see so many coming not only to compete, but also to support as dads and boyfriends as well as children, parents and grand parents came to watch! A real family day out!
The Junior competition was won by Garstang Young Stars who beat Chipping Kittens in the final, with Chipping Cubs and Brookhouse Rockets taking third and fourth places.
Newbiggin on Lune won the Novice Competition with Chipping Cats the runners up
The open final was won by Garstang All Stars (9 – 7) with another Chipping team – WildCats – again being the runners up!
Well played everyone!!
Will shared a message looking at the pace of the game, the passion involved, the penalties that have to be given for breaking the rules and the prizes that await at the end. He likened these with the pace of life and the need to Be Still and Know that He is God, the passion He gives us for life, the penalties of sin that we incur but can’t deal with ourselves and the prize that await those who turn to Christ and follow Him.
