SportsReach Netball League 2017/18
Thankful for another dry night for netball with some great matches being played.
One of the messages focussed on the strangely named Black Friday, which has become a part of the shopping calendar and all the ‘offers’ that are pushed our way. Life changing offers! Buy now or miss out offers! Another strangely named Friday is Good Friday! Good – because of what Jesus accomplished on the cross for us! Good – because of what He offers us (Real Life Changing offers!) Forgiveness. A new start. Life. A new destination. All free for us all if we will turn from our sin and turn to Him and receive Him.
Some great matches took place as well. In division 2, Panthers picked up their first win defeating Heysham Harriers 25 – 16. Quernmore Rubies moved to the top with a fine 15 – 6 victory over Bluebelles and MereCats closed in at the top moving up to third with a 47 – 12 win over Roses.
The only match in division 3 and STY:LE triumphed 25 – 13 over the other Heysham team, Halos to move back to the top of the table.
In division 1, TopCats v Thunder saw some fast and free flowing netball with both teams playing on top of their form. TopCats emerging winners 27 – 14. Swallows have worked hard all season with little reward but they picked up their first point of the season in a close game with Stingwrays. Stingwrays winning 23 – 19. The Garstang derby and both teams were a player short but Diamonds still scored an impressive 49 – 12 win over Sapphires. A shock was on the cards as Royals stuttered in their charge up the divisions. Mantawrays started on fire and stormed into a 7 – 2 lead at the first break. Royals came back and looked to be getting fully into their stride to draw level at 10 – 10 with half time in sight when an unfortunate injury to a key player saw a hurried reshuffle of positions and Mantas retook the lead in a low scoring third quarter. Royals tried to bring it back again in the final quarter but Mantas proved too strong and with victory in sight they kept their composure to come out 21 – 15 to the good.
Well played everyone. 🙂
