SPORTSREACH NETBALL LEAGUE 2018/19

Wednesday 6th March and the final league matches of this season! Wow, it has flown by! Lots of games played, goals scored (and conceded), lots of fun, laughter, fellowship and competitive netball too. Throw in one or two damp nights, some cold nights, a couple of really cold nights but also some excellent conditions on the whole. Big thanks to all who have organised, umpired, played, to Ripley St Thomas for use of the facilities (to Darren – site supervisor) and to everyone who has come and supported but especially to those who have shared the messages each week.  Different people, different thoughts but the common theme has been Jesus – who He is, what He has done for us and what He asks us to do in response.  The King of Kings, who gave His life for us, that we might turn to Him and find true life for ourselves, true peace, true joy, true love.

As we went into the final games, there were still titles to be decided. In Division 1 TopCats needed one win from their two games to be sure of the title.  Royals needed to win both of their games (one of which was against TopCats) and hope that MereCats could help them out by defeating TopCats too.  In the end TopCats won 33 – 9 v MereCats and clinched the title with a game to spare. Royals overcame Thunder 31 – 20 and had to settle for second place even though they went on to win the last game v TopCats 34 – 21.

So Champions of Division one were Chipping TopCats with Lancaster Royals in second, Chipping WildCats in third and Quernmore Jets in fourth.

In Division two the only game saw Quernmore Rubies cement their status as runners up to Westhouse Lightning by overcoming Bluebelles in a very good game 33 – 26.

In Division three, Babybelles had a chance of pipping Lancaster Roses to the title. To do so they had to win by a 30 goal margin. Quite a tall order against a Halos side looking to finish with a win as well.  Babybelles did win, but not quite by the margin needed to be Champions, 23 – 8, but it was enough to move them above Lancaster Lions into second place. In the other match in division three, Capernwray Flames recorded a good win, 21 – 16 over STY:LE.

Well done everyone! This Saturday 9th, sees the Awards Dinner at Capernwray Hall to celebrate the season and give out all the well deserved awards etc. (and eat some great food as well!! 🙂 )

Next Wednesday 13th March, its the start of the Netball League Cup and we go again!

Results from 06/03/19:

Capernwray Flames 21 – 16 STY:LE

Westhouse Thunder 20 – 31 Lancaster Royals

Heysham Halos 8 – 23 Babybelles

Chipping TopCats 33 – 9 Chipping MereCats

Quernmore Rubies 33 – 26 Bluebelles

Chipping TopCats 21 – 34 Lancaster Royals
