What a great night it was! It started with the Plate Semi Finals – Babybelles vs Westhouse Thunder and Quernmore Rubies vs Bluebelles. They were both great games, and all the teams put up a good fight! Quernmore Rubies came out on top in the first semi final winning 34 – 14, and after a tough and close game, Babybelles upset the form book and won 21 – 16 over Thunder and made it through to the Plate Final!
A powerful message was then shared by John Gorst recounting conversations with people he had recently met. One shared how his life was broken and another how although from the outside looking in, everything seemed to be together and going well, in reality everything was hard and falling apart. John shared how Jesus is there to mend broken lives and to walk through life with us and to help carry our burdens.
“Come unto Me all you who labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light” Matt 11:28-30
Then it was time for the Finals!
Chipping TopCats v Lancaster Royals battling it out for the Cup and Babybelles v Quernmore Rubies in the Plate Final.
Babybelles played very well and maybe youth (it being the second game of the evening for both teams) overcame experience as they won 33-10 to finish their season on a high.
Lancaster Royals and TopCats had battled it out all season in the league and now were head to head for the Cup. TopCats edged ahead in the first quarter and then pulled away to finish 47-28 winners and complete the League and Cup double for the season!
Well played to everyone in both Cup and Plate!
