Our final game saw the SportsReach ladies make a few signings to take on Tauernhof students!
Christian Langanger from Mitterberg played in goal, Nico and Will made up the team that took on the students at Rhormoos. Christian shared how he had come to find Jesus for himself and how the words and literature from the SportsReach games over the years had been a huge help to him in this. Nico challenged the students afterwards with words of Jesus – “You give them something to eat.”
A very close game ensued and the students were quite confident of defeating the SportsReach Ladies, however the girls were determined to finish well and being on a full size pitch and playing 11 a side was actually a delight after playing 8 a side all week. SportsReach ladies (and helpers) triumphed 4 – 3 and the gap could and maybe should have been wider. Goals from Anne, Maddy and two from Julia (Nico – apparently he would have been called Julia if he had been born a girl!) brought the team victory.
A great week, played 6, won 4, lost 2, scored 13, conceded 10. Not a bad record for a team with no recognised goalkeeper, and were some of the team had only met each other for the first time a few days ago! The highlights, of which there are many, both on and off the field, were the sharing times with the teams afterwards. We trust that they will remember the messages shared and read the literature given and that we will hear of people finding God for themselves as a result of this week.
