St Martin Senozan 3 – 1 SportsReach
Our second game saw us come up against another strong French team in blistering heat. We started well and again could and should have taken the lead. Storming runs from Ben McNeil down the wing led to a few chances but sadly we fell behind and went in 1-0 down with a goal being scored just before half time. Sam Dennis was marshalling our defence with Olly Parkinson alongside him, giving a Carragher like performance, with sweat pouring from his brow! Steve Cornall and Nic Hyde standing strong as fullbacks. Dan Tyrer and John Gorst working very hard in midfield and Luke Gorst foraging down the right with Olly Jackson chasing defenders down! Into the second half, Louis Jones again pulled out some amazing saves, one in particular was outstanding as he clawed the ball from under the crossbar. Unfortunately we fell another goal behind before a pass from Will Marsden saw Simon Chevassut pressure their defence into a mistake which saw the ball get through to George Whitaker who slotted it away for us. As we pushed on for an equaliser we were pegged back and St Martin scored their third and we finished 3 – 1. A great performance too from Sooty, the man in the middle!
They were in a very good humour as we stayed to watch the French national team demolish Switzerland 5 – 2 in the World Cup and after sharing in a BBQ we presented them with a SportsReach football and shared again who we were and why we were in France and the message we take around the world as SportsReach. They are already looking forward to us coming again next year.
A great evening, Praise the Lord.
