Week 6 of the mens 5aside league had the closest set of fixtures we have ever had!!
In the early games Galgate who were leading 2-0 at half time, managed to hold on to win a tight game against Chipping 3-2. In the other game it was the two teams with a 100% record playing each other. Crown Lane started stronger than Wray and got themselves ahead early on but could never pull more than a goal or two ahead. As the game went on, Wray gained more control and eventually took the lead with 5 minutes to play, only for Crown Lane to find an equaliser and keep things really tight at the top of the league. In the later games Real VVV and Capernwray Students both won their first games of the season. Real VVV had an extremely close game with Capernwray Staff and only some great one on one stops from the VVV keeper kept them in the match at times. The Capernwray Students have had a tough first few weeks to the league as they got used to playing with each other, but this week it all clicked as they beat Young Guns to move off the foot of the table.
At 9 o’clock Steven Havelin, who is an intern at Capernwray Hall, spoke about how much we hope in different things in life and how often we can be disappointed in these things, but then spoke about the hope we can have in Jesus Christ and he encouraged the lads to make that decision.
Results:
Wray 5 – 5 Crown Lane
Chipping 2 – 3 Galgate
Young Guns 3 – 6 Capernwray Students
Real VVV 4 – 3 Capernwray Staff
