SportsReach football league results – 21st October

23 Oct

After a two week break, SportsReach league football returned this weekend. The All day tournament had to unfortunately be cancelled last week, with the pitches not in playable conditions. However, this weekend, despite the horrendous weather conditions, two games were able to go ahead. Lancaster vs. Fulwood and Great Ecc vs. Loko were called off.

The first game of the day saw Moorlands taking on Preston City Mission. Moorlands were looking to get their second win of the season, whilst Preston City Mission were still looking for their first. Moorlands got of to a great start, scoring twice through Chris Dent within in the first 10 minutes of the game. However, Preston City Mission were not going to let Moorlands have it all their own way, George Pascalau getting one back for PCM. However, Moorlands restored their two goal lead 5 minutes later, Harry Shepherd netting in the 25th minute. To cap of a goal filled first half, PCM pulled another one back, scoring in the 32nd minute through Daniel Tapciuc. There was to be one more goal in the second half, Moorlands sealing the win with their fourth goal in the 58th minute through Matt Holden.

In the second game of the day, played during the terrible down pour of rain in the afternoon, Quernmore played Wray. Wray were looking to make it 3 wins in 3, whilst Quernmore were looking for their second win of the season. However, it was Wray who were to open the scoring and make an explosive start, finding themselves 3-0 up inside the first 15 minutes after two smart finishes from Jake Fawcett and a first goal of the season for Martin Huddleston. The chances kept coming for the away side and halfway through the first-half Fawcett sealed his hat-trick with a well taken effort at the back post. However, Wray were not going to have it all their own way, with Quernmore ‘keeper Neil making a string of fine saves to keep it at four but just before half-time, George Whitaker’s corner was flicked on and Adam ‘Young Man’ Woodhouse smashed it home from close range. With the conditions getting worse with every playing minute, the second-half failed to muster as much goal mouth action but keeping the ball well, Wray still managed to create some good chances. The only one that found the back of the net however came midway through the second period as Woodhouse steered in  a corner.
