The league table is starting to take shape now after 8 weeks of fixtures. In the 8pm games Crown Lane managed to beat a well organised and resistant Real VVV team 8 – 1. Galgate for the third week in a row made life hard for themselves as they played a very quick and skilful Young Guns team, and as in the previous two weeks they managed to win by 1 goal! With Crown Lane and Galgate winning, it was down to Wray, who started the night in first place, to regain their lead at the top of the leader board. They soon got into their stride and played some excellent football to eventually record an impressive 12 – 0 win. In the other late game, Caperwray Students were looking to get revenge on a Carnforth team that had won comfortably, a few weeks previously when the two teams had met. Carnforth managed to get ahead early in the game before being pegged back. This was the story in repeat, for the first 25 minutes, but as the game wore on the students fitness and organisation showed, as they intercepted and broke twice on Carnforth to take a well earned win. After a disappointing start to the league the student team from Capernwray have jumped up to 6th in the league as they have gone 3 games unbeaten.
Half way through the evening Mark Ellershaw shared with us about Gods mercy and grace towards us, in Jesus. He explained how when we follow Jesus, God is merciful towards us, because He doesn’t punish us as we deserve; and how He shows amazing grace towards us, because He gives us what we don’t deserve (Life eternal in Heaven).
