SPORTSREACH 5ASIDE LEAGUE

16 Nov

The 5aside league seems to be going quickly, with 2 of the teams already halfway through their fixtures now.  In the 8pm games Wray conceded an early goal against Carnforth, but soon got into their fast pressing game, causing lots of problems for Carnforth.  Wray took a 7 – 3 lead into half time and after 10 minutes of resilience from Carnforth, Wray took control of the second half as well and ran out 11 -4 winners.  Real VVV had a strong team out, welcoming back Alex Denby, to play against Ingleton. The two teams have had contrasting results the past 3 or 4 weeks, with Real VVV steadily moving up the league and Ingleton needing to get back to winning ways.  It was a very tight, end to end game with lots of goal mouth action, with Real VVV eventually winning 9 – 7.

Alan Wadsworth spoke at 9pm and asked what we are living for?  We have so many things that are important to us and that we invest our time in, but Alan explained how we can so easily loose any of them.  Alan went on to tell us what Jesus has done for us and how following Him is the most important thing we can do with our lives.

In the late games Crown Lane wanted to keep up pace with Wray after their earlier win.  Crown Lane were too strong for the Capernwray Students and even though the Students were well organised, Crown Lane were very comfortable winners.  Chipping fresh from their first win of the season, last week, found themselves with much of the possession against a Capernwray Staff team that was missing a few key players.  It took Chipping until the 12th minute before they scored, but they soon followed up their opening goal with two more.  Into the second half and the Staff team had some good chances but failed to make them count and it was from a free kick in a great position, that Chipping won the ball back, broke at speed and scored on the counter attack.  As in the first half, it took the Staff two or three minutes to recover and in which time they conceded two more.  The Chipping goal keeper James Smith made some key saves including a penalty, to make the scoreline very comfortable and sees them move up 4 places in the table.

Results:

Real VVV 9 – 7 Ingleton

Wray 11 – 4 Carnforth

Capernwray Students 2 – 11 Crown Lane

Chipping 6 – 0 Capernwray Staff
