SportsReach football league results – 16th September

The second round of fixtures took place today, with plenty of goals in the 3 games that took place.

In a morning kick off, Quernmore had their first home game of the season, against new team to the league, Moorlands. Quernmore were the better side in the first half, working hard to try and score, albiet to no avail, as Moorlands shut them out in the first half.  2 minutes into the second half, however, that was to change. Quernmore, awarded a free kick on the edge of the box, took the lead through a superb free kick from Tom Kelsall. Straight from the kick off, Quernmore nearly had a second. Quernmores lead was not to last long however, Moorlands pulling one back in the 56th minute through Luke Williams. Two minutes later, Moorlands took the lead, with Chris Dent and completed their quick comeback, taking a 3-1 lead in the 59th minute. A superb 3 minutes for Moorlands. Quernmore, shell shocked, tried to pull some goals back, but it was not until the 79th minute, were they able to, once again, through Tom Kelsall. And in the 81st minute, Tom Kelsall struck again, breaking through the back line to get Quernmore back level, capping off a superb performance from him. A draw would have been a fair result, but, however, neither team wanted to settle for that, but, ultimately, it was Moorlands who struck last, in the 87th minute to get the win.

Great Ecc took on Preston City Mission, with PCM playing their first home game at Moor Park. They took the lead in the 7th minute when a cross field dink over the defence saw Jack Sharples connect with a sweet half volley into the far corner.  Jack Sharples scored two quick goals in the 22nd and 24th minute to claim his hat-trick and make it 0-3. Ben Clark was soon to score 2mins later to make it 0-4, and on the half hour mark centre back Ol Parkinson scored Eccy’s 5th from a corner. Sharples soon grabbed his 4th of the game in the 39th minute and Dennis Pulford got in on the act with a great finish from an acute angle to make it 0-7 at half time. 2nd half and Eccy didn’t hang around as straight from kick off, Ben Clark tripped and stumbled his way down the right wing to cut in and place a shot past the keeper at his near post. 0-8 in the 46th minute. P.C.M. keeper was by now making quite a few saves much to the frustration of the Eccy attack, but a cross-field cross saw Dennis Pulford grab his second at the far post in the 58th minute. Not to be outdone, Ben Clark claimed his hat-trick in the 62nd minute. Dennis Pulford became the third player to score his hat-trick and then 4th goal by scoring two more in the 67th and 74th minute. Capt Simon Greenhalgh finished off the scoring in the 82nd minute to make it 0-13.

The third game of the day was Lancaster vs Loko. A deserved win for Lancaster, who opened the scoring in the 11th minute, through Michael White. They then doubled their lead on the 20th minute through Damian Melody. Half time came and it was 2-0 to Lancaster. In the 55th minute, however, Lancaster got a 3rd goal, with a third different scorer – Joe Pickles. Lancaster finished their scoring in the 66th minute through Adam Luczynski. Two wins from two for Lancaster and two wins against Loko this season. Loko will be pleased that they will not have to face Lancaster again in the league this season, with two difficult games now out of the way!
