Two of the leagues form teams, Real VVV and Young Guns, met at 8pm. Real VVV took control of the game and led 3 – 2 at half time, but it was Young Guns who managed to finish the game the stronger and claim a big win and move up to third in the league. In the other game top of the league Wray were looking to continue their winning run against a new look Ingleton team. Wray were dominant in the first half and took advantage of a team that were just getting used to playing with each other, to lead 7 – 1 at half time. Ingleton looked much more organised in the second half and matched Wray, but the damage had already been done.
Graham Stamford came to share the Good News of why Jesus came, with us at 9pm and he challenged all the players to personally turn to Jesus.
In the late games we had the Capernwray derby, and Galgate took on Carnforth. Capernwray Students against Staff drew in the biggest crowd of the season with at least 15 ‘fans’ coming down to watch. The staff were really up for this game especially as the students started the evening above them in the league. It was a very high scoring game with both teams playing open and attacking football, with the staff coming out with the bragging rights. The other late game was the opposite, as both teams cancelled each other out in a very low scoring game. Galgate twice took the lead, only for Carnforth to equalise and then in the last couple of minutes Carnforth scored again to take the win and move off the bottom of the table. Carnforth have now already accumulated the most points that they have got in any season since 2013/14!
Results:
Real VVV 6 – 7 Young Guns
Wray 8 – 2 Ingleton
Capernwray Students 7 – 12 Capernwray Staff
Galgate 2 – 3 Carnforth
