Last Wednesday night we finished our mens 5aside league and mini tournament for the 2021-22 season. It was great to have 14 teams involved in the league, with games being played between 7-10pm at Carnforth high school each Wednesday evening. We had different players and a few guests, come and share the Good News of Jesus with the guys each week.
It was a closely contested league with 4 or 5 teams in the running to win it, until the last couple of weeks. This year’s winners were Tap It In (managed by Mark Ellershaw) and the runners up were Newbigginers (managed by Ryan Capstick).
Last Wednesday we had a mini tournament with 15 teams taking part. We had 4 groups that played short round Robin games, with the top 2 teams from each league advancing to the quarter finals. We were thankful for great weather on the night, with around 100 lads taking part in a really good atmosphere. Newbigginners ran out winners after beating Loko Carnforth in the final. Loosing semi finalists were Chipping and Stanley Road Ambassadors.
Half way through the night, Steve Hewitt gave a powerful message and read some verses from Isaiah chapter 40:
“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:28-31
Please pray for all those involved. Many have heard the Truth of who Jesus is this winter. Please pray that those who don’t know Him, would turn to Him and for those that do know Him, that they would walk more closely with Him. Thank you, John
