SportsReach 4 – 3 Schladming
Another great evening! This was the game we were all looking forward too. We played the Schladming second team, very strong and quick, in the Schladming stadium. We took the lead with a goal from Nico but then fell behind with Schladming scoring two goals in a minute. Everyone kept their heads up and we rallied with Bill Gibbons pouncing on a rare goal bound Will Marsden header which was blocked on the line to equalise. We also had a shot rattle the post and then Bill again ran through for us to take the lead just before half time. 3 – 2 half time. Schladming changed a good number of players at half time and started fresh and quick. They soon equalised but another goal bound header this time from Caleb was saved by a defender! Graham (ref) showed grace in allowing the player to remain on the field of play. Joel Law dispatched the penalty and although both teams created chances following this SportsReach held on to win 4 – 3. Every player performed to their very best, from Sooty in goal to Nico up front. A tremendous disciplined team performance with tired and heavy legs at the end.
The best was yet to come though! We headed into the clubhouse after changing and Nico (pictured) shared testimony and Will shared a message “For to me to live is Christ, to die is gain.” It was tremendous to have this opportunity to share with these young lads and also with some older players we have known for years who came along to watch and remained behind to listen. They were all very open to listen and to engage in conversations afterwards, promising to read the literature given and asking for us to come again next year. Praise God for a great night and pray on that as they heard the spoken word and read the written word that they would hear the Holy Spirit draw them to Christ. Although legs were tired and heavy we returned for a wonderful meal prepared by Lothar and his team at Tauernhof, with a spring in our step and hearts rejoicing in being a part of what God is doing in hearts and lives here. Praise the Lord.
