SportsReach Netball League 2017/18
Two evenings (Wednesday and Thursday) of netball this week as we played catch up with a couple of re-arranged fixtures on Thursday at Lancaster and Morecambe college.
With Remembrance Day having only just gone, one of the messages focussed on remembering. Remembering not just those who have given their lives in wars and conflicts but especially remembering one who gave His life for all. The poppy was a visual for this as the black centre reminds us of our sin, the red petals of the blood of Jesus that was shed for us and the green leaf of the new life that is ours when we turn to Him.
Some really good games took place on both nights. In division one, Diamonds continued their unbeaten run with a win over Mantawrays with Royals also winning to move close behind in second. WildCats also unbeaten in third with a game in hand means that it is very tight at the top of division one!
In division two the match between Lightning and Rubies on the Thursday was a very good game. Lightning made all the running in the first two quarters and stretched a six goal lead over Rubies who had been having an excellent season so far. However, Rubies began to turn it round and in the third quarter they overturned a six goal deficit to a one goal lead (22-23) and in the last quarter stretched away to win 32 – 26 and move into third, just behind MereCats. Both teams are chasing Jets who although they didn’t have a game this week still sit at the top six games unbeaten.
The Capernwray teams of Eagles and Electrics both recorded wins and moved up the table in division three. With Electricwrays beating STY:LE it meant a win for Eaglewrays would take them to the top and they duly obliged beating Babybelles 26-15.
